Forget Djokovic's win in Montreal , Federer beating Nadal on clay, Boggo nearly beating Roddick.................this is the biggest shock of the tennis year...what has happened !  jawdrop.gif

This has to be one of the weirdest couplings of all time...Nicole is still only 18, 11 years Stepanek's junior for one thing. WTF does the guy have which enables him to attract two of the best lookers on the wta tour in a year !  Perhaps off-court he's a raconteur and wit par excellence or maybe its something a little more substantial which draws Misses Hingis and Vaidisova..

Whatever it is....it's (bad) enough for us Average Joes to have to compete w/athletes and Abercrombie models for the ladies' attentions but to have to compete with a Ferengi ?

Wow, this story is all over the place, but mainly on the tennis sites. The only newspaper site I can find it on is the Bradenton Herald, which is the local paper for Bolletieri's in Florida. That might of course be a local hack quoting from an unreliable tennis site report ...

"Bradenton resident Nicole Vaidisova, the 12th-ranked women's tennis player in the world, has filed papers for a marriage license with men's professional tennis player Radek Stepanek, according to information received from the Manatee County Clerk of Circuit Court.

Vaidisova and Stepanek applied for the marriage license Dec. 10, and their names are on a public records list that will appear in Sunday's Herald.

Vaidisova's agent at IMG Academies, Olivier Van Lindonk, could not be reached for comment.

The 18-year-old Vaidisova turned pro in 2003 and is coming off her best year on the WTA Tour. She reached the semifinals at the Australian Open and the quarterfinals of the French Open and Wimbledon.

Stepanek, 29, has two career titles on the ATP Tour, including one earlier this year in Los Angeles. His best Grand Slam showing was a quarterfinal berth at Wimbledon in 2006.

Stepanek was previously engaged to another tennis player, Martina Hingis, but the two broke off their engagement in August."

No wonder her agent 'can't be reached for comment'!

The rumours doing the rounds on the other boards are quite far-fetched, but no weirder than the real thing.

Maybe off court Radek isn't the obnoxious creep he often appears to be on court. Indeed, maybe this is why he was a lot more upbeat and likeable during the USO.

cause he always mucks around on court, same reason people dont like footballers like Eboue (and i am a arsenal fan) & rondaldo to start with
