Time to decide who is your player of the year for 2007:
Nominees:
(1) Andy Murray: Despite missing 3 months of the year with a wrist injury, Andy still managed to reach a career high of no 8, reach 4 atp finals (2 titles), make 2 masters series semis and finish at no 11
(2) Jamie Murray: The elder Murray won his first slam title in the Wimbledon mixed doubles and nearly repeated the feat at the US Open falling in the last 4. He also picked up 3 atp titles with Eric Butorac
(3) Ross Hutchins: Ross became the 3rd Brit in the doubles top 100, making his first atp final in Nottingham and enjoying success in US challengers and atp Mumbai
(4) Miles Kasiri: At the start of 2007 Kasiri had just 1 ranking point and was down in the 1400s....he ended the year on the brink of the top 500. Enjoyed a lot of success in Greece making two 10K finals there
(5) Alex Slabinsky: Slabinsky is another of a growing number of Brits starting to make real inroads through the futures....he made two 15K finals in Ireland and Surrey and last month reached the quarters of a challenger for the first time beating top 300 player Richard Bloomfield. Currently in Africa, looking to end the year in the top 500, a jump of nearly 400 places from where he started 2007
(6) James Ward: Ward jumped around 350 places in 2007 with making a string of futures semis all around the globe from Spain to Indonesia. He made his ATP debut in Valencia and came close to winning a round. Proved he can cut it with challenger players at Queens qualies where he pushed Dusan Vemic (atp: 153) to 3 tight sets
Even with all that Jamie M has done....it has to Andy...he was one ATP main draw win away from the Masters Cup and he missed 3 months off.....bagged those two titles.....no other can lace his raquet at the moment.
Slim pickings this year in all honesty. I've gone for Andy too. Does Jamie Baker not deserve a nomination for his jump of around 100 ranking places and challenger runs?

Yeah, I think Baker deserves a nomination at least.
I've gone for Andy, Drew is right to do all he did even with 3 months out is incredible and whilst the rest have done well, they're nowhere near his achievements.

Andy has done well but I go for Jamie as he came out of his brothers shadow to make his own mark in doubles. Those three main tour titles and then the icing on the cake winning the mixed at Wimbledon. His name on a grand slam title and maybe more to come.
Yeah it has to be between the Murray brothers really....though I voted for Slabba of course After 19 votes it looks like Andy has the edge though Jamie's only a couple behind him....that mixed doubles title is keeping him in the hunt
It was tough choosing the other 4 nominations, Baker probably did deserve to be in there but i had to include Ross Hutchins after going from nowhere to top 100 doubles and an ATP final and Kasiri, Slabba and Ward have made huge ranking leaps in 07 .
Went for Jamie Murray as I did for the LTA awards as he's actually won a major title. Was tempted to go for Kasari as you've got to look at relative matches won and he's gone for 1 point to edge of 500, so in theory had to qualify and play matches where some points may not have even bee available.
Just thought, is there going to be a poster votes of the year?
Andy was cruising it after 15 votes but Jamie's caught up and is 1 ahead atm......will be a real turn up for the books if he takes it !
Kasiri could have been a real contender in this poll, he had a great 2 months from May to June but wasnt able to maintain that form (though 2 big injuries did contribute to this)....still a great year for him and if he can remain injury free, top 300 is a definate possibility next year
We could definately have a poster votes of the year, any ideas for categories though ?

Could have: Funniest poster of the year? Most optomistic poster of the year? Reporter of the year? Avatar of the year? Overall poster of the year?
