Success for the young Welshman -

Joshua Milton defeated Jan Marek, the number 6 seed, and ranked 450 places above,
6-4, 2-1 retired.
Well done, Joshua (Josh?). Now to play someone your own age!

Matt and Ed now know their potential second-round opponents: Mait Kunap def Philippe Oordshoorn 6-7, 6-3, 7-6, a good display by the unranked Netherlander; Mikhail Fufygin beat Martin Fafl 3 and love.

So Josh qualifies impressively! He seems to be a very talented player, next year should hopefully see him make a big rankings rise.

Tough main draw for Josh; he plays world-ranked 368, Jaroslav Pospicil, seeded 4, and playing on 'home carpet'. Ed's opponent is Mait Kunnap, a fellow qualifier; the Estonian, WR 756, came through Matt Illingworth's section of the qualifying draw.
Good luck, lads!

Even though Matt and Ed did so well last week, reaching the semis, they haven't entered the doubles - no British interest at all.

MD1 :

POSPISIL, Jaroslav (CZE) 4 (368) v Q MILTON, Joshua (GBR) (1297)

Q ALLINSON, Edward (GBR) (1052) v Q KUNNAP, Mait (EST) (756)

Shocker for Milton but a great chance for a point for Ed.
