GB singles matches with rankings:

L32: Maniel Bains WR 1180 v (WC) Hamid A Moniem (SUD) UNR (nothing but a double bagel will do!)
L32:(7) Alex Slabinsky WR 626 v (Q) Mario Tupy (AUT) WR 1461 (winner to play Bains or Moniem)
L32: David Brewer WR 1135 v Motaz Abou El Khair (EGY) WR 811 (winner likely to play no. 6 seed Sherif Sabry (EGY) WR 613)

Easy first two matches for Slabba but grrrr @ his quarter...Preg Rusevski lurking in there who at 269 is by far the highest ranked player in the field. He's won no less than 7 futures this year, but he has picked the weaker tourneys and judging by his challenger results, is probably overanked by about 100 places. He's played a lot of matches this year so hopefully will be feeling a little jaded

Results in and good stuff from Bains bringing in another point:

Maniel Bains WR 1180 df (WC) Hamid A Moniem (SUD) UNR 6-1 6-1

As expected Feaver did get a LL spot but was unable to take advantage losing 7-5 6-3 tp Bertram Steinberger (AUT)

Ruckelshausen defeated the 8th seed and Rwanda F1 finalist Sabeckis. This guy is seriously on a roll, he has sprang out of nowhere the last couple of months.

He is only ranked 14 places behind Sabeckis.

Ireland's John McGahon should crack the top 1000 with his R1 win! Well done to him. He's certainly done it the hard way. Sheddie has some insights as to McGahons career that are worth hearing if you can get hold of him.

Slabba starts at 10 in Sudan tomorrow!

Slabba

Slabba and Feaver withdrew from the doubles to be replaced by Matthew Bright and Krzystof Muzalewski.

Bright / Muzalewski d. El Sadig / Moniem 7-6(3), 7-6(5)
Lessiak / Tupy d. Bains / McGahon 7-6(4), 6-3

Singles R2

Maniel Bains [1180] v Mario Tupy (Aut) [1461]
David Brewer [1135] v Sherif Sabry (Egy) (6) [613]

Tournament progressing at a snails place, Brewer and partner have yet to play R1 doubles match, and only only 4 R2 singles matches played tommorow.

Oh dear, poor Slabba ... it looks like the getting too close to the top 500 curse has struck yet again.
