Jonny has undergone his second shoulder operation and will be returning at some time in the new year, though he is putting no timescale on his return simply focusing on getting 100% fit.
More details on www.jonnymarray.net including his new fitness regime that will see a bulked up Jonny return and how he has not played pain free since 2006.
Thanks to all those who have enquired, sorry I havent kept you better informed but it's just been too depressing all the time saying "no news yet!"
Thanks Toby. On the day that he was steveg's rankings loser of the week and was described as "now retired", that's brilliant news! I wish him all the best getting ready for his return and hope that his PR helps him work his way back up the rankings when he does come back.

The calculation isn't specified in the 2007 ATP rulebook but from 2005:
"... determined by the player's average INDESIT ATP Entry System position during the first three (3) months of his injury"
This means that Jonny's PR (which he can use to enter a limited number of tournaments after he comes back) will be 324 assuming that his injury officially started on 16 July, the day he was due to see the specialist according to jonnymarray.net.
Another week later and it would be 340.
Either way, that'll put him in Futures main draws and Challenger qualifying (maybe the odd Challenger main draw too) but obviously it won't allow him to defend his AO qualifying points, which will be all he has left after this week.

Dont expect him to be back in time to defend aussie open points anyway, so he will no doubt be starting from 0, but the great thing about having nothing to defend is you've nothing to lose!
Glad to hear some positive news, especially that Jonny is feeling less pain. Hopefully he does become the fastest rising Brit, as Steven said. and hopefully the lta get behind him and throw him a few wildcards.
Thanks very much for letting us know Bladetiger.
