The LTA today confirmed that Brad Gilbert will continue to play an important role in British tennis over the next 12 months.
This follows the end of the partnership with Andy Murray which was confirmed earlier in the week.
The agreement will see a reduced arrangement of 20 weeks over the next year, starting with a December training camp in Florida with a team of British players. Brad will also work with Alex Bogdanovic, and other players in that age category, support the new wave of training camps and continue to help up-skill British coaches.
Roger Draper, Chief Executive of the LTA, said: It is great news for British tennis that Brad is going to continue working with us. He will focus heavily on supporting Alex over the next period, as well as continuing to work across our performance programmes. Whilst the last year or so has seen Brad working mostly with Andy, he has also spent a good amount of time with other players and coaches and had a hugely positive impact. I am really pleased that this will continue.
Brad Gilbert said: I am really excited to have an opportunity to build on my work with the LTA and am confident I can continue to make real progress in British tennis. I have already spent time working with a number of talented young British players, including Alex Bogdanovic, and will be using my experience to try and get them performing consistently on the international stage.
this could be good for alex, although it remains to see how well it will work as they are clearly on differing planes of exixtsence at the moment. Its one thing for brad to travel with andy to the atp events (and 5 star hotels) its another to go to these challengers and stay in 2/3* places, also i am guessing alex travels ecomony class, brad probaly 1st class etc.
however i really think brad can help alex as everyone knows alex is a brilliant shot maker and can play every shot in the book (remember some of his shots vs a-rod) but just cant seem to pull it togther consistently.
