Week 45 - Futures F1 (10k) - Gaborone, Botswana

First round of qualies:

Ciaran Moore (RSA) beat Joe Cooper by 0 and 0.
James Feaver beat Lefa Sibanda of Botswana by 1 and 0.

Second round of qualies:

Richie Ruckelshausen of Austria beat Feaver by 5 and 2.

Main draw:

Edward Seator vs. Jurgens Strydom of Namibia.

Strydom is in good form as he made the finals in Namibia, but that was his first impressive performance for a while, so Ed has a good chance.

Botswana F1 - Gaborone - 2007.

Strydom and Seator both lost to the same man in Namibia so it will be interesting!

And of course there's no Strydom Sandbank in Botswana!

Comfortable win for Ed in Round 1

Edward SEATOR (GBR) (1) defeated Jurgens STRYDOM (NAM) 6-1 6-4

He plays Milos Sekulic [UNR] next

[Five lucky losers in R1 - is this a record?]

(Ahem, time to dust off this excellent but ancient joke reply:)

- No, a record is a round black thing with a hole in the middle!

If Ed can win this tournament, he will move right up inside the top 550, on the verge of becoming the first British man to break the 500 mark for a long long time.

At the moment, I put him around the 590 mark, a win in the 2nd round would put him to around 575.

Next up is qualifier Richard Ruckelshausen WR 1461. A win there should move Ed up to around 560

The QF would sound relatively easy, except that Ruckelshausen was the guy who shocked Seator 5 & 1 in Cape Town last month on his way to the semis there. He's also beaten Jamie Feaver in straights the last two weeks, in Namibia on his way to the semis (again) and in qualifying here in Botswana.

He did lose to Irwin & Thornley a few months ago though ...
