His 2nd Basel title and 52nd overall and he's wrapped up the ATP Race for the 4th successive year. Roddick in 2003 was the last to deny him it, though Federer still won Wimbledon and the masters cup that year
How long will Federer continue to win the race for ?.....it was thought that Nadal would present a serious challenge for it this year and indeed the Spaniard has won more masters series titles (3) - Federer has won just Hamburg and Cincinatti, but Nadal's body has proven too injury-prone to claim the sheer no of titles needed to topple Federer and he's wrapped it up with 2 tourneys to spare
Federer hasn't been quite as dominant this year, just 7 titles but to make the race close, someone else is going to have to win at least 1 of AO/Wimbledon/USO and go deep in all 4
Djokovic looks the likeliest, it could be Andy but probably not till he breaks the top 8 in the entry list and so gets a bit of high seeding security at the slams, at the moment there's the danger of getting draw to meet on of the big 3 in rd4
