Week 42 - Futures F20 (15k) - Glasgow, Great Britain

Qualies Draw - http://www.itftennis.com/mens/tournaments/drawsheetbyRound.asp?event=1100092379&tournament=1100016356

Packed with just Brits, as is the norm for Futures in Jersey and Scotland. We should have one in the Isle of Man. cry.gif

Good luck, Marcus and Ricey.

I know that Milton and Cox have two of the four wild cards.

GB F20 - Glasgow - 2007.

Bamford, Smith, Evans, Bains should all get through, and 1 of Illingworth/Thornley, Rice/Brassington, and Allinson/Willis should make it as well, leaving just Varga as the sole non-Brit qualifier

Skupski must have a WC based on his performances and how he isn't in the draw, while the last could have gone to anyone (Eaton, Rushby or Flanagan if they didn't make the cut, or Brewer/Sagoo who aren't in the Quali Draw)

The results from the first two rounds are up there. No shocks, really, apart from Modebe beating Smethurst.

Week 42 - Futures F20 (15k) - Glasgow, Great Britain

Final QR :

BAMFORD, Neil (GBR) 1 v COUPLAND, George (GBR)

SMITH, Matthew (GBR) 2 v PAUFFLEY, Neil (GBR)

VARGA, Robert (HUN) 3 v ZUNGUNDE, Jeffrey (GBR)

ALLINSON, Edward (GBR) 4 v WILLIS, Marcus (GBR)

EVANS, Daniel (GBR) 5 v KENNAUGH, Andrew (GBR) 10

ILLINGWORTH, Matthew (GBR) 7 v THORNLEY, Sean (GBR) 9

So we will have at least 7 Brits in the MD only the long suffering Mr Varga stands in the way of a GBR clean sweep.

Tough matches for the juniors! Rice prob has best chance.

Great chance for Bains or Skinner!

Crackin qualies performances from the boys there.

The wrong people good the nice MD draws imo.

I wish Ward and Cox had Kasiri or Skinners draw.

Great chance for Skinner, Rice and Pauffley to score points.

Hopeful for the Skupster as usual... and Slabba should probably make R2 at least.

Looking at the draw, I'd expect points for Bloomers, Bamford, Rice, Goodall, Kasiri and Slabba, with Skupski, Eaton, Rushby and Pauffley having chances as well

Hopefully Cox can get the win as well, but Stoppini was a top 200 player a year ago (didn't he beat Boggo at some point, and Agassi as well last year... so why is he playing futures now?), and Ward never seems to get a good draw in the UK, which suggests he should stay abroad, as he gets more luck there

Big performances needed from Slabba and Wardy.

Who the hell gave David Brewer a wild card???????? Clearly Draper's "winning" mentality got a little sidetracked. Brewer hasn't picked up a point since Ireland in June, since then he has beaten just one player with a world ranking. Anyone care to explain? Totally bizarre

Do you agree with that logic Drew?

It's not like the inclusion of David Brewer is going to draw the massive crowds into Glasgow for the event lol. Surely the wildcard could have been better spent. Should we be giving wildcards to players who don't deserve them just because they are from the area where tournament is played?
