"There are 20 tournaments throughout the year, and although they are senior events many of the participants are juniors. The total prize money for each tournament is £1,800, with the winners receiving £300 and prizemoney being paid down to the quarter-finalists.

The tournaments run over six or seven days with a Saturday finish, and are generally open to players with an LTA Rating of 4.2 and higher. There are pre-qualifying and qualifying draws, with the Main Draw starting on the Wednesday (usually catering for players rated 2.2 and higher). 2006 saw the introduction of a Masters event held at the end of the calendar year. Players who reach the quarter-finals, or further, of any of the 20 tournaments will be allocated points accordingly and the top 24 men and women will be invited to compete in the prestigious Masters tournament."

They're in Wrexham this week where the mens draw features Rushby, Bains, Dan Evans, Flanagan, Dave Brewer and Matt Smith with world rankings, and a host of others.

Top 24 points scorers over the years events make the Masters tournament in December.

With a little more money in the British tour hopefully some players will make enough for some trips to futures tournaments in Africa etc...
