Davenport beats Jankovic

Lindsay won 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 in Bali earlier today, amazing result...Jankovic was pretty wasted after the US open but even so, this is Lindsay's first tourney for goodness knows how long

Jankovic was upset about a number of dodgy calls in the 3rd and lost it a bit

Amazingly she is actually taking a break now....you do have to seriously wonder about her schedule, she must play more tourneys than any other player in the top 20. I do wonder what the reasoning was behind playing here, I mean it's only a tier 4 !!!!  If she doesn't cut down that schedule she'll be totally burnt out in a couple of years, it would be a big shame to see her career cut short by injury

Probably gutted she didn't get into Sheddies top 3 of Bali's next top model and so didn't play to her best. cry.gif

Don't know the rules exactly but I know that top players are obliged to play certain tournaments ie the WTA (?) guarantee that there will be a certain quota of top ranking players at tournaments. Have no idea if this extends to tier 4 tournaments but it could explain why she was there. Can't remember where I read this so have no idea where to check. I suppose it's just a requirement to help with sponsorship.
