Good to see Fitzy taking the step back down after some tough experiences at 50K level in Russia.

Week 38 : Nottingham 10k

Anyone from here going to this ? I know we have quite a few members in the Nottingham area, would be great to get some scores, reports, pics....

Fitzy seems to have gone off the boil since her training block in August after her purple patch in June-July. Should be able to pick up some wins next couple of weeks in these 10Ks..get some form back before the challengers in the States

Agree with tennisbrain, why has Julia Bone got a wc ? She did great over the summer and has potential to go quite a bit higher than her current best of 650ish but she's heading off to uni the week after this and will hardly be competing till next summer...I dunno whether she plans to return to the tour after her degree ?

Think that Natasha Marks and Kirsty Woolley definately deserve wcs.....would have given the final one to Amanda/Jade/Yasmin/Joc/Steph though, unless those girls are running short on how many wcs they can get this yr in which case the LTA might be waiting to give them wcs into some of the 25Ks this autumn

Naomi B, Lucy and probably Amanda will actually make main draw direct

Going to be a very competitive qualies comp though from the looks of things

bone is 1 on alternate for main which means she is probably not going to use her wildcard. so who does everyone think it should go to.

i think

either jess jackson-showed good junio promis quaifying for wimbies and qualified for a few 10ks and she needs ranking may help her get on her way think she already has some points

or

windly hasnt really featured much recntly so get ehr some points going straight into main.

but i think alot of these girls such as rae, windly broady exc exc exc have run out of wildcards as they all got alot right at start of year where they first shot off. i wish there was a tally on website. think onoly allowed three and some of these girls have definately had that

surprised jade windly lost but she has been in poor form and carly homewood losing 1 0 was a surprise also. however these foreigners may be quite usefull. main draw match ups all brits anyway

anna smith v amy sargeant that will be a good one.
lucy w
broady
jackson
marks
beki LL

jawdrop.gifjawdrop.gifjawdrop.gifjawdrop.gif @ Veselinovic losing. With her out, a British finalist looks almost certain.

Some interesting matches, especially the all-Brit clashes. I think Yasmin will beat Jess Jackson, she has more variety though Jackson is very much underanked. Yasmin's close rankings-wise to where she was at the end of last yr before injury...some more wins in the next couple of weeks and she'll be top 800.

Anna S should have too much power for Amy Sargeant. Anna's slipped back a little after losing pts from August 2006 but very little to defend till March now ! She got a bit unlucky with draws last autumn, played lots of top 250 girls...she'll be a big threat indoors this autumn to anyone in the 10Ks and 25Ks.

Kirsty-Julia could go either way, both in great form atm. Maybe Kirsty will want it that little bit more given that Julia leaves for uni next week. Kirsty won 7-6, 3-6, 6-2 in Frinton in July.

Liz against Amanda is another tough one to call...I'm hoping Amanda wins though.

Steph Cornish had some great wins in the qualies...hammered Samantha Vickers, losing just 3 games and then beat Doutrelant who's 800ish in straights. Pretty sure that Steph will be too consistent for Lucy Warburton.

Nice draw for Broady, should win that. She'll be in with a chance against Buryachok who prefers the slower surfaces - competes on clay most of the year, in rd2.

Horrible draw for Scarfi, Wong has won three 10Ks in britain this yr, among the Brits, only Amanda Elliott has won a set....nuff said cry.gif

Ana V's defeat is a shock and takes out one of the main contenders for the title. The draw has opened up for a potential British winner.
