Where are our challenger boys?

Not one British player in a challenger this week. Singles (Qualies or MD) or doubles.

Messers Boggo, Baker, Bloomfield, Childs, Auckland, Delgado, Hutch, do you not want any ranking points?

Well no point in Baker going back to Europe for a week as he is playing New Orleans next week.
Boggo is injured, Childs seems to have disappeared the other are all doubles players

And we do have Josh in Sweden (and Rushby)

Bloomers is back next week in Orleans (france)

Well done Einstein. thumbsdown.gif

I meant why are they not playing? Do they not want to succeed in tennis?

boggo would not have played this week, as he is schduled to play in china next week it was unlikley he would have played a challenger this week even if fit.

i wouldnt expect any of our boys to go back to clay so the only option would have been in the ukraine, which maybe didnt apeal for various reasons.

i think they all do want to suceed, but you have to manage the year correctly, which somtimes means taking a break.

i think it just feels like nothingg has happened recnelty with them, iguess thats been down to most iof aour regualr challenger playser retiring so its really onlt boggo bloomers and baker who compete at challenegr level currently (josh appears tobe dropping back to furtures) boggo is playign atp's if he can and has also been injured. so that only levaes jamie and rich to follow at this level.

Well dont ask simple questions if you already know the answer....players cannot play all the time event after event....they need time to rest and train and recover from injuries etc.

No Offence but the boys haven't been playing too many matches recently, they don't need to rest imo

i think maybe it feels worse recently cause iof the uso, no events played in the 1st week, and minimal this week, plus we have had a very barron summer with the payers we normally epxcet to follow deeper into the weeks not being fit etc.

i am sure it will pick up in the autumn once the DC is out the way. plus there are a few GB challengers coming up.

Yes because they have really been straining themselves with tournaments recently havenn't they? yawn And even when they enter the tournaments they don't go deep into them.

Checked the qualy draws for the 5 Challengers this week coming.

Josh could have been one of the top seeds in qualies in all of them...and one of them he would have had 2 byes through to the final qualy round. (Well done Conor niland instead). He may even have made the MD of one of the events.

Maybe he likes the company of other Brits....or maybe he just loves Sweden wink.gif

Just seen that draw... and that is ridiculously weak for a 100K challenger. Really think some of the Brits should have tried this, as they would have at least had a good chance to win a round or 2. (Guess Bloomers is in the main draw as he isn't qualifying for it)

I'm pretty sure that Childs would have gone for that if he hadn't been injured. As for the other guys...ok maybe Kasiri, Slabba, Rushby etc might have won a round or two in qualies but even if they did manage to make main draw they're no way gonna win a round in that field and pts wise futures offer a much better chance of getting some.

Goodall's the only GB guy outside top 300 whod have a chance of winning a round in main draw n Orleans but on current form its surely best for him to get the matches in futures

All the challengers last week were on red clay which undoubtedly put bloomers off. As seagull says, Baker would have had to fly back to Europe just for 1 tourney...and also he would probably have seen the USO as a good chance for a training block

Anyone know what Aucks is up to atm ? Surprised not to see him in Bejing draw

Do you know anything about Lee Childs injury?  How long until we may see him again?  Whilst asking, is there any news from Jonny Marray, I was hoping he might be back abaout now??
