He has points to defend as he won the title here last year. If he opted for a Challenger instead, he would have to win three rounds, which wouldn't be an easy task in the strong Grenoble line up. Playing the Challenger in Tulsa is out of the equation as he'll be in London for DC until Sunday.

It may be a bit of a step back for Jamie and Bloomers to play this futures, but on the whole it does make sense.

Jamie has a title to defend, so it will be easier for him to retain the points by winning the title here, which he should be the favourite for, and because of the Davis Cup, he will still be in the UK on Sunday afternoon

Bloomers needs to get some wins and some confidence, so stepping back to futures for a couple of weeks may be the way to do it

Loving the fact there is 7 Brits with DE to this event, plus the 4 WC's, and the fact we will likely get a few qualifiers, and with Flanagan first alternate, that should be another player in once the SE spots are cleared (hopefully Irwin and Bamford should sneak in as well), which means we could have more than half the draw as Brits

Korolev has pulled out of Grenoble and Alex has a seeding there so now's the time to start picking up some points again.
