Lets hope Josh can put together a good run in this tourney....very disappointing loss in Surrey last week after some promising performances (if not results) in Uzbekistan. His year has been really strange after such a great 2006...just two 15K semis and a qualification for ATP Nottingham to show for his efforts. He's really struggled in the challengers this year
I wonder what the situation is with Josh and Lundgren at the moment...whether they've been able to keep in contact last couple of months ?
I think that Connolly and Bamford will go through. I doubt Connolly will have any problems against Harfield
Kennaugh beat Bamford in their only previous match...7-5, 6-2 on clay in 2005. However, this is a much faster surface and Kennaugh must be pretty rusty...only his 2nd tourney since April. Bamford's form recently has been excellent aswell, semis in Hampstead and he came within a couple of pts of knocking out the top seed and making the final.....the Skupski rd1 match in Surrey last week could have gone either way too
Bamford's a puzzle as he's never been higher than 550 but whenever he plays top 300 guys in challengers and ATP qualies...he never appears out of his depth...often comes close to shock upsets....hasn't been able to perform consistently in the futures.
Great result for Kennaugh! Hoping for at least a couple more winners
