Henman plays Argentina's Juan Ignacio Chela in rd1 this afternoon. The Tiger will be hoping for his 2nd win since February !
Chela is an old foe, both players have 4 wins apiece. Chela won their 1st meeting 6-2,, 4-6, 6-3 in rd2 of Monte Carlo 2000 before Tim got revenge in rd3 of the same tourney 2 yrs later, winning 6-2, 6-7, 6-4. Chela won 6-3, 6-3, 6-2 in rd3 of the US Open 2002 but Tim was badly hampered with a back injury in that one. Henman followed with 3 emphatic victories from 2004-2005...winning 6-3, 6-4 in Doha, 6-2, 6-4, 6-4 in the quarters of the French and then 6-3, 6-1 in Miami. However, Chela won their last 2 matches, both in 2005....winning an ill-tempered clash 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 in Hamburg and then 6-4, 6-4 in Cincinatti.
Chela had a fabulous start to 2007, winning in Acapulco and then making masters series quarters in Indian Wells, Miami and Rome but since then his form has tailed off...going out in rd2 of the French and SW19. Made the semis of Stuttgart on clay last month. He lost in rd1 of Toronto in 3 sets to Verdasco last week
