This is the companion event to the ATP Masters Series which is nearing its conclusion. Katie and Anne just made the cut for a very strong 48 draw qualies. Katie's match was due to start at 3pm our time, whilst Anne is 4th match on court 1.

[6] Maria Elena Camerin (ITA) vs Katie O'Brien Selima Sfar (TUN) vs [24] Alberta Brianti (ITA)
Alicia Molik is still involved in the doubles at LA I think, so may be replaced by an alternate
Katie did not win another game. Like many before who have made a quantum leap during the grass court season, she is finding it very difficult to adjust to a higher level of competition on other surfaces.
Well Katie has not done anything to note since wimbledon and even there she only beat a women ranked about 100 then got thrashed to krajicek, some serious thinking to do for her especially after what she said in her wimbledon interviews.
Stephanie DuBois has made the second round of the main draw. It's really frustrating as a British fan to know that this is a player who Anne beat in straight sets recently and who is of a similar ability and yet it is Dubois who is taking advantage of the opportunity presented to her.
