Yasmin Clarke and Aimee Gibson both in qualifying here. Thankfully both have won their 1st and 2nd round matches and are in the final rounds: Y Clarke vrs K Frilling (USA) A Gibson vrs A Anghelescu (USA) (7)
In the main draw we have Melisa Berry who is drawn against the 3rd seed N Kritz (AUS)
Looks like Mel's run of losses is going to continue Kritz is ranked 461, but has only played 1 tournament since start of June, losing 0 and 2 in rd1 of WTA qualies last week. Hopefully she'll still be a bit rusty for this one
Yasmin plays an unranked 17 year old in final qualies round, ranked just outside top 100 ITF juniors. She should win this
Aimee has a harder test, Anghelescu is only 15 and already ranked 1200ish
Yasmin has been placed in the main draw. She faces 7th Seed Seredni (USA). Seredni is ranked 649 but has had some fairly average results recently including a QR1 defeat at 25K Southlake to Becky Fong. Seredni hasn't won a match since May and has yet to pass the 2nd round of any ITF tournament this year. Yasmin has a chance, but clearly Seredni has some pedigree to reach top 650. It will be a good indicator of where Yas is.
(Q)Yasmin Clarke (GBR) d. Cassandra Chan (AUS) 63 62
Another good win for Yas. She faces fellow qualifier Henry (AUS) in the next round who upset the 2nd seed Leanne Baker. Only two seeds have made it to QF so the draw is very open.
