Bad news of Andy's withdrawal - but just two more withdrawals and Bloomers is in.

The alt list looks like a bad attack of scarlet fever laughing.gif

Tim v John Isner (WC) could meet B Becker (8) in R2. Other seed in his section - Del Potro (10).

Alex v R Haase and would meet Llodra (14) if he gets through that match.

Neither of those are bad rd1 matches all things considered. Tim should expect to win easily and Boggo can definitely beat Haase provided his back is OK and his head is in gear.

Anyone know what Bloomers is doing instead?

thats not too bad a draw for tim and boggo.
tim *should* sail through the first round and whilst haase is one for the future, and hit a bit of form at amersfoort the other week (reaching the semis), it is winnable.

Hopefully Tim can have a bit of a run here and climb
back up the rankings a few places. He seemed to be
ok fitness wise at Wimbledon.

Really want to see Alex at least reach 2nd RD.
Since Newport his ranking has slipped back again.
so want to see him in the top 100.

Here is Isner's playing activity. I had not heard about him before. He was born in 85 and is 22...interesting WC choice by the Americans....what am I maybe missing about his college career?????

Anyway, he did rather well at his previous (and first) ATP tour event....took Dick Norman to a TB in the first set before going down 6-3 in the second....he also beat Alex and partner in the doubles. A nice match up for Tim, hopefully he will feel good about his game before beating Boris Becker in the second round....wait....oh yeah...that mean dude who beat Andre at the US Open.....

Opps...sorry never did post his playing activity:

Isner has just made the final at Lexington where he's described on the website as the 6'9" bomber. Doesn't sound like he's going to be a walkover for Tim. Hoepfully very tired though.

Tim has played big men before (although this guy must have something special in order to get these two wild cards) and has worked out ways to beat them. What works at Lexington won't work so well against an experienced player like Tim. I just wonder why Isner has not played so much before getting these wild cards etc.

I am confident that Tim will get through although John being tired would be sweet too.

Yeah I was thinking that.....maybe he just won a college title and that explains the wild cards....I'll search for him.

I'm pretty sure that Isner was at college, and had a very good career there, or so that is what I have heard about him

He is a massive server by all accounts, so Tim is unlikely to get too many chance to break him in the match, and will have to play the tie breaks well, as there is a chance that there will be one

Becker in round 2 is also winnable, as I cannot see how Becker is ranked as highly as he is, but Del Potro will probably have too much for Tim in round 3, unless Tim manages to play in the kind of form he did in Tokyo last year

Another tough draw for Alex, as Hasse appears to be in form at the moment, plus has a lot of confidence behind him. Hopefully though he struggles with the clay to hard transistion though, and Alex can catch him in the first round.

Llodra in round 2 isn't a great draw, but he is one of the lower seeds, and Boggo has played well against the serve/volleyers in the past, so if he is fully fit and mentally there could also be winnable
