That's a pretty solid looking draw for a 15K futures!

Josh steps down to Futures level again, bit of a comedown after the grass court season. Hopefully he can put behind him the worries of last week or 2, regroup and win the tournament.

Pray that Klein loses in Junior Wimbly as soon as possible. Given that he is a brilliant grass player, there's a good chance that he'll get a wild card here if he misses the qualies cut.

Dan, I am quoting your post here and deleting the duplicate thread. The board isn't letting me move posts. confused.gif

Qualifying draw

Guess the WC's then.... as all the obvious suspects are in qualifying

Kasiri must have 1, and then the rest to juniors I would guess

We should get at least 2, and possibly 4 qualifiers out of this

Kasiri and Matt Smith should be having direct entries (unless the SEs are used).

Wild cards should have gone to Dyce, Smethurst, Cox and someone else. It's possible that Bloomfield or Marray have taken one, but I hope not.

Results are here: http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/carlbaldwintennis/Mens%20QS.pdf

Klein was removed (probably got into the main draw) and Milton took full advantage of it. Two good wins from Evans.

Final qualies round (rankings correct as of today):

Joshua Milton [Unr] vs. Antoine Tassart [1286] of France
Alexander Slabinsky [747] vs. Purav Raja [824] of India
Daniel Evans [1511] vs. Ken Skupski [1335]
Ross Connolly [1034] vs. Alexander Sadecky [725] of Switzerland
Robert Searle [846] vs. David Brewer [882]
Luke Campbell [Unr] vs. Ed Corrie [1125]
Neil Bamford [870] vs. Travis Rettenmaier [1246] of the USA

At least three qualifiers is good. It's a shame that Evans and Skupski have to play each other. cry.gif

What results Milton is having, he did well at wimbly too didn't he?

Yep. Won a round and then took a set off Klein.

It's good to see him do well after the terrible South American trip that he had. He'll do very well to qualify here, though. Tassart beat Jim May in the previous round, so he must be a good grass player.

Wild cards have gone to -

Dyce
Smethurst
Cox
James Ward

I am not happy with Ward getting a wild card. He would make the main draw with his ranking if he had entered himself. Good luck to him in any case.

Damn, the two people I most wanted to get through - Evans and Skupski have to play each other.

I expect Ken to be too strong on grass, but good experience for Dan!

Would be a pretty decent scalp if he won tho'

I think I asked this before, but what is the story with Skupski? I know he is a little older, but some of his results during the grass court season and his bad luck with draws etc, I'd love him to do well as he has talent.

He was in the US, studying at the Louisiana State University.

Thanks for that info Arka....might be cool to make a list of Brits who come on over here to place College/Uni tennis.  Maybe I could catch a match or two if I knew they were coming up here.  Montana State U has a good college team etc.

Evans and Milton both qualified. party.gif

Cox got Alun Jones in the main draw.
