Katie is scheduled fourth match Wednesday on court 13 (following Safina, Hingis and Ljubicic) with Baltacha/Cavaday v Sfar/Foretz to follow (rain permitting). Good luck Katie

A little info on Krajicek:

She is the half-sister of Richard who won Wimbledon in 1999. Michaella was world junior no 1 a few years ago, at the age of just 15 !!! Dominated the junior tour really, she was ITF junior champion in 2004...won the US Open juniors, and made the final in 2003....came close to winning more slams too, 2 RG semis and a Wimbledon semi...plus multiple G1 titles on all surfaces

They incidentally played on the junior tour back in 2002, Krajicek winning 6-4, 6-2 on clay

Her rise on the WTA tour has been equally meteoric and she's now established in the world's top 50...has a career high of 33...she's hit a little plateau though, finding it hard to continue the move upwards and start to trouble the top players

At RG, she made the 3rd round, losing 3 and 4 to Serena. Her best result came on the green clay of Charleston in April where she made the quarters, beating Vaidisova along the way. Last year she had an amazing run in Hertenbosch before Wimbledon, winning the title - beating Jankovic, Dementieva and Safina but then she went out of Wimbledon in rd1. This time around her grass season has been more measured, lost in rd1 of Birmingham to Fedak (wr: 117), lost in rd2 of Hertenbosch to Safina and in rd1 of Wimbledon she beat the veteran Israeli Obziler 6-2, 7-6

it's one of the best rd2 draws Katie could have hoped for....Krajicek didn't look particularly comfortable in the 2nd set of her rd1 match once she started getting tight and she lost to a player outside top 100 a few weeks ago in Birmingham...

Katie's had easily the best few weeks of her career, must be on a massive high right now and she gave Dementieva a close match in Eastbourne, could have taken that to 3 sets....so who knows

anyone seen Krajicek play a lot before ? I only saw bits of her rd1 match on Monday

Katie is first up on Thursday on court 3 - with an earlier start of 11am (BBCi will be covering it and possibly BBC2)

I have seen a couple of Misa's matches this year, including the loss to Serena at the French. I agree that she has hit a plateau (indeed she would not be seeded if this week's rankings had been used) and has struggled to impress against the top players. That often happens with teenagers breaking into the top 50. After a honeymoon year others work out how to play them, and confidence ebbs after frequent defeats in higher level tournaments.

Katie withdrew yesterday from the Felixstowe 25K event, so it looks as if she is reassessing her schedule in the light of her recent success, which seems sensible.

i think if she wins, correct if im wrong, she may get into top 100! so she would be able to pick and choose somw WTA tournies as well as the major challengers! i just hope she will still be confident to get into the top 100 regardless of whether she win or lose. smile.gif

Lost first set 6-0 but although this may sound strange, she's not playing that badly.

Just held serve for 1-1 in second set, and even if she loses she's still looking as hot as ever.
