Tim knows his opponent at French Open

Henman faces Gulbis Ernests from Lat in the first round. In the second round he can play against Soderling or Montanes. The next round probably against Nadal.

Nice r1 draw for Tim. He should beat Gulbis I think. Soderling/Montanes won't scare him either

Do you reckon Tim could beat up NadaL?

No (whichever way you meant that question).

I want to see Henman-Nadal clash. Two totally different styles, two different generations, two different guys.

I think you're writing Montanes (an out and out clay-courter just above tim in the rankings) and Soderling (on the up over the last year and a player who saves his best for the big tournaments) off too easily. Personally I doubt Tim would get past either of them cry.gif

Also Soderling is no mug. OK clay may not best suit him but he is a very agressive player and he will be saying 'great if i get through I hope its Henman' !!!

Am i the only one wary of gulbis? The beeb(typically) just took one look at his ranking and called him "unfancied" but i think he might give tim a tough test and possibly beat him. I've been following him now and then and he seems a good talent. He's one of the 'younger young' ones (ala JMDP).

Admittedly i've not seen him play and im not sure if he's any good on the dirt but he's been in good form on hard courts this year with a couple of challenger wins.

IMO henman to win in 4 or 5 tight sets and to lose in r2 in yet another poor RG for brits.

I also think that his first opponent can be dangerous. It's on clay so you never know. However the sun is shining, courts are pretty "fast" and Tim is raring to enjoy playing. I reckon Tim through in 4. Next round will be much tougher without a doubt. For Henman I think Soderling's game should suit him more then Montanes's. But he will have to play well indeed to meet Rafa in 3rd round.

So fingers crossed and let's go Timmy!smile

Gulbis is no walkover but clay isn't his favourite surface either and Tim will be strong favourite.

AS for R2 and 3 it is speculation but I think if he plays well he will reach R3.
