am i right in thinking that none of the girls got through to the second qualies round last year?
none of them have it easy but then hopefully a couple of them pull it out the bag and get a few wins.
No-one won a round last year, but in general the women fare better than the men, with 10 wins in the last decade (Julie Pullin 3, Louise Latimer 3, Karen Cross 2, Sam Smith 1 and Anne Keothavong 1). Louise and Karen both reached the final qualifying once.
Morita may be good but shes not very good on clay. Shes better on fast surfaces.
Haring is a pile of crap. I saw her i manchester a couple of years ago and was not impressed. Suprised shes even got to 260ish. I think shes having a bad year aswell so good chance for Katie to get a win there.
"Haring is a pile of crap." She is only 22, a frenchy, and has never been given a wild card for the French Open....kinda funny really....you would have expected her to be given one or two esp as last year her lowest ranking was 275! The girl might have some promise, but has had a tough year so far this year.
I don't think Haring's fav surface is clay either as she has only made the second round of qualifying in the French Open once and has not yet played on Clay this year. Haring has also been out since March 11...so all in all I think Katie will win.
Also, towards the end of last year Naomi beat Haring 3 & 1.....I wish Naomi was in the qualies.....but hopefully she will have a great run in the Juniors.
Good point Tennis....and while we are at it lets hope Henman has a run this year that will make us all forget his run in 2004.....dreams are lovely things...
I think she's playing Wimby juniors because one of her aims for the rest of the year is to win a junior slam...she's gonna play junior Wimbledon and US Open, should have a decent shot at making semis or further in one of them
A big bit of luck for Mel South - no. 2 seed Kerber has pulled out, so she's playing Michaela Pastikova (CZE) WR 291 instead. She didn't seem to be making much use of her good luck in the 1st set, losing it 6-3, but she's about to serve for the 2nd set at 5-3.
