We need to do something about the britishtennis.net articles !!! i haven't got long till my exams start so time online is v, v limited...I could probably manage 1 or 2 articles per day but that's a maximum....the shift system devised in Feb worked really well till after Easter and since then I've virtually been writing every article !
It would be a shame to let the site slip back as through it we've got loads more new members, guests and clicks...the community here has really been buzzing over the past few months through britishtennis.net which is great and it would be a shame for that to kind of grind to a halt (as happened a bit last June)
With the grass season rapidly approaching, we're likely to get lots of new visitors...so we need to sort out some arrangement with the articles. Maybe not do such in depth things on every tournament each day (eg a few round-up articles for the futures and challengers instead of in-depth reports etc) or maybe reduce the commitments of the rankings thread ppl so they have time to do articles.
Yeah, I'm happy to do articles. I always check the thread to see if there's a list up but it's been very rare lately. If people do their shifts and there is a list of articles to be done I will weigh in with some.

This is one of the manic periods in the housebuilding calendar so my time is limited....my better half has also been poorly. Apologies to David but I will do what I can...hopefully this will improve shortly.
I have to say, I've been really impressed by the coverage on bt.net and how well the whole thing has been run as a team effort with (as far as I can tell!) no egos getting in the way of stuff running smoothly.
However, I remember saying to someone that I found it hard to see how such a blanket level of coverage could be kept up once the major contributors hit busy periods and the initial level of enthusiasm inevitably waned a bit.
I definitely think the answer would be to try to keep covering ATPs and Challengers in that much detail but not try to do a new story every day on every Futures event the Brits are playing in - instead do a summary and only have a separate story when something really big happens.
Also, I wish I could help more, but life is more manic than ever at the moment.
I should be able to get my top 25 table restarted and regularly updated again later this week (GRMB, BTZ and the Jonny Marray site are waiting for that too ) and I'm going to try to continue to enhance the pick 'em sheets so that we can have a big, well advertised pick 'em for Wimby. But I'm afraid those things won't leave me any time to contribute articles as well.
However, I'm going to try to start getting my GRMB 'Brits this week' articles back up to standard (they've become little more than lists of results recently, but when they are done well, they hopefully make quite good summaries of what's going on, particularly in the Futures) and I'm happy for any of you to lift anything you like from those.
I'd offer to re-post them on Freewebs myself, but a) I'd need to reformat them and b) publishing anything to a freewebs blog is just soooooooooo slooooooooow. It's like write the article and then spend half as long again trying to post it. I'd rather put my efforts into trying to write worthwhile stuff in the first place.
Is there any way we can speed uploading up a bit? e.g. by moving bt.net to a paid host - I'm sure we could find a way around the cost problem if the cost wasn't too big. Being able to FTP directly to a properly-hosted site, using something like WS-FTP or Leech FTP (instead of the Freewebs dead slow versions) would be ideal.
However, it wouldn't then be possible to do the web pages in blog form, I don't think, and while it would probably make it easier to do the rankings threads, I understand why doing it as a blog is so important when there are so many contributors.
Unfortunately, that was more questions than solutions, I just think that if it was easier to get stuff on bt.net, more of us would probably do it more often and be able to take the load off people like David.
