I can't believe Verkerk still has protected ranking. How long does it last???

It's one of the biggest mysteries of tennis - Verkerk's PR. I haven't found an answer as to HOW he still has one even though I have asked loads of people/read a lot about it.

He kept withdrawing from tournaments and so is allowed to keep on using it until he has actually played his maximum number, I can't remember whether it is 6 or 8.

Yes, but there has to be a time limit. I think that it's nine months or when you finish your PRs, which ever is earlier.

Otherwise someone like Magnus Norman could take a PR before retiring and make a comeback at Roland Garros 2020. clap.gif

Very well! Ranked inside the top 850 and already has won a match at a Challenger.

He is probably going to do big things. Has got a lot of talent, is getting the right results, has a good physique, a lot of back up.... in short, all you need for becoming a top 100 player!

Rubbish draws, basically, with these draws on clay I'll be surprised if anyone except Boggo wins a match - though he's the only Brit who did last year anyway.

With comparative rankings and info re other seeds in their sections, which probably won't be very relevant except for Boggo, as posted by dougie above:

QR1: Josh Goodall WR 218 v (q5) Ivan Navarro Pastor (ESP) WR 103 ((q29) Mischa Zverev is the other seed in this section)
QR1: (q9) Alex Bogdanovic WR 113 v Yuri Schukin (RUS) WR 171 ((q22) Robin Haase is the other seed in this section)
QR1: Richard Bloomfield WR 188 v Ramon Delgado (PAR) WR 158 ((q28) Gorka Fraile & (q11) Federico Luzzi are the seeds in this section)
QR1: Jonny Marray WR 259 v (q16) Oliver Marach (AUT) WR 123 ((q32) Gilles Muller (LUX) is the other seed in this section)

Here's the OoP:

On Tuesday, Josh is 1st on Court 10 at 08.00 BST, Boggo is 5th on Court 6 and Jonny 5th on Court 14 at about 16.00 BST and Bloomers is 6th on Court 15 at about 18.00 BST.

Yuri bt alex 5 years ago, whne ales was ranked in the 500's, and even then alex won a set BUT schukin won a clay challenger last week, inc beating no1 seed mayer (42) in 2 tb sets in the final, in fact he onlydropped one set all week and that was a TB and is basiclay just a clay court player (in the last year he has played 11 non clay matches and 57 clay matches). he also took a set of davyd in barca losing in the 2nd rd.

so will be a tough ask for alex, yuri will surely be coming on a high, maybe a bit tired tho?

will be a great if any oe of them can win a match, let alone qualify.

can't see any Brits troubling their opponents after that draw.

Should have gone to Uzbekistan
