the polish singles are very good on clay but i dont know if they have doubles specialists. If Cavaday plays the singles first up and play one fo the Radwanska sisters, she probably have a shot at beating them since she had more match practice than them. Only if Cavaday plays the singles, she has a chance to beat them and put Brits in pole position in the doubles.
i am surprised that bally not chosen for dubs with claire but oh well
different subject not worth new topic.... naomi is ligned up for main draw bournmouth and edingborough and withdrawall date gone for bournmouth??????? quite strange she is choosing to do 10k given her recent success??? anyone no anything i dont?
One logic can be that she wants to spend more time in Britain. She's back for Fed Cup, so it would make sense to play the 10Ks. She has been playing elsewhere for nearly all of this year - first Australia and then the US.
Very unexpected, she told me she was going to play the two 50Ks in the US. Seems a bit strange that she's dropping down to play 10Ks....maybe she's decided to play 25Ks in Europe through May instead of in the USA.
I'm very surprised at Nigel's choice for the singles...maybe Naomi arrived late from Bulgaria and he's resting her for next two ties. Lets hope Bally and Anne can get the job done
Bally has to beat Evtimova this morning if we're going to beat Bulgaria today. Evtimova is ranked 285 but has been playing well on clay. She made a 25K quarter-final last week, with an impressive 2 and 2 win against Klatschka, plus a 10K semi last month.
Hopefully Fed Cup will inspire her game like last year.
Anne has the tough one against 19 year old no 1 Pironkova who's ranked 86 and has a high of 62. When they played last year, Pironkova won 6-1, 6-1 and followed that up a few weeks later with a 6-1, 6-1 win against Srebotnik. Her best result in 2006 was making semis of WTA Sweden. Hasn't done particularly well this year but she's been playing all WTAs
