BBC's lazy reporting sinks to new lows

Anyone spot the "deliberate" mistake?

Lol biggrin

At least it's not as bad as their habit of regularly giving wrong results and scorelines for GB tournaments

They weren't the top seeds, Alan. The top seeds were Knowle and Aspelin, who withdrew and were replaced by the "fifth seeds".

Just noticed this thread - I started a similar one on the Rusedski board after noticing the same thing. I also tried to save the BBC's blushes (goodness knows why) by filling in their comments form, but sending it gave me an error ... twice ... so I gave up.

Now someone on the GRMB says they've noticed that it says the same thing on the Valencia site, so that's no doubt where the BBC got it from. It doesn't let them off the hook (they should have checked their facts and if their tennis reporter knew anything about tennis, seeing that the pair they beat were no. 1 seeds should have at least rung a few alarm bells, since you'd expect a tournament like Valencia to have a top 10 doubles pairing as top seeds), but getting it wrong on the tournament's own site is pretty bad.
