What happened to Natasha cry That Balducci girl seems to have turned into a serial Brit-basher, beating Sarah and Natasha in consecutive weeks without dropping a set, and she's only ranked 690...very strange.

This tourney is on hard not clay, so it was a chance missed.

However, excellent efforts from Mel and Lucy in qualifying and then giving tough rd1 opponents such close matches. Mel must be gutted at coming so close and missing out, looks like it was a real fight...Feys didn't cruise through the decider as often happens when a higher ranked player wins a close tiebreak. Feys is ranked about 500 places higher at 440 and has started 2007 very well, winning a 10K and she beat Webley-Smith 3 and 3 in Sutton.

Rd1: O Scarfi (GB) bt E Pioppo (Ita) 6-1, 6-2 clap

Great win for Olivia, she now plays the French 7th seed Claire Feurestein in rd2 who double-bagelled a wc in rd1. The Frenchwoman is ranked about 150 places higher at 523

Nice solid win for Scarfi! Good on her.

Scarfi and Khan won 6-1 6-3 in doubles. Lingmann and Ruckert next. Could be a toughie

Yeah it'd be good to see her on some sort of a run again. She had some brilliant results at the end of 2006 but unfortunately hasn't been able to build on that. Nigel Sears said that she's been out of form so far this year. Scarfi's a real fighter though, hopefully seeing the likes of Bone and Fitzpatrick go past her in the rankings will spur her on.

I doubt she'll win today though, Feuerstein won the Bath 10K last week without dropping a set !! Earlier this year she beat Julia Bone 1 and 1 and has also made two semis in Israel.
