Alex is defending 12 points from the QF of Valencia last year. He drops 1 place to 148

He'll need to reach the quarters again to have a chance of gaining places: If he does, he will overtake Delgado. He can also overtake Garcia if he doesn't make the QF in Mexico.

Behind him, Karanusic needs to reach the Chiasso quarters to overtake, and for Alex to go out in R1. Gil needs a QF in Casablanca.

Gil plays Healey tomorrow in Casablanca. Vik  plays Cilic, Roger-Vasselin plays Dlouhy.  In Chiasso, Karanusic plays Galvani, in Mexico, Garcia  plays Cleveland.

Zabaleta has just gone a break down in Houston qualies.

Zabaleta qualifies for ATP Houston and advances Vik, Roger- Vasselin and Fraile are knocked out

Well I hear rumours that Bethan's got a wee bit more time this week: maybe enough for a "what- if"?  Especially if I offer to email her the spreadsheet???



In the meantime, in Casablanca today, Rochus plays Giraldo; Zverev play El Aynaoui; Economidis plays El Amrani; Kubot plays Pashanski and Montcourt plays Bolelli.

In Houston tonight, Schuettler plays Melzer.

Updated for close of play in Europe (now that the Casablanca site is finally giving me the Econonmidis result.

In Casablanca, Rochus won and advances; Zverev, Kubot and Montcourt lost

Schuettler lost smile  It's opening up nicely ahead of Alex: Hopefully he csn take advantage

Today, in Casablanca, #2 threat Gil can overtake if he beats Muller #3 threat Rochus plays Bolelli. #3 target, Economidis plays Vanek.

In Chiasso, #1 target Karanusic plays Josh threat Cipolla;#4 target Zib plays Vagnozzi.

In Houston tonight, #1 threat Zabaleta will overtake if he beats Fish. Kuznetsov plays Burgsmuller.

In Mexico, target #2 Garcia plays Zeballos.

sorry folks - operator error. I've pasted the correct table in. All correct except the change since yesterday column. Plus Zib has kindly got himself beaten this morning in Chiasso.
