Wimbledon dress-code taken a leetle too seriously !

Wimby1953.jpg

I know this was back in 1953, but it's still a little worrying that this was regarded as being "dressed to kill" back then ! biggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrin

I was watching tennis in 1953 and I can assure you nobody dressed like that!

If you look just under the picture, it says they were dressing up in Edwardian outfits.

I had thought 1953 was a bit modern for all that!

Very pleased to read today that Wimbledon has relaxed its oh-so-serious dress code - in an important way

The new rules allow women to wear coloured/dark knickers or undershorts (as long as they're not longer than the skirt or main shorts)

This is in response to a lot of pressure by Judy Murray, Billie Jean King and others, who say it puts too much unnecesary and irrelevant pressure on women, playing in white underwear, when they're on their period.

A very sensible amendment, in my opinion.

Seriously, Jon????
I can't remember what I did last week!
But I can use the search function
Mind you, as Steven says, it's a very idiosyncratic search function......
