Alan Mackin starts his campaign in this week's Angers 15K+H against Argentine wildcard Sebastian Uriarte. Uriate is currently ranked 839 and has never been higher than 623. This will be his first match since November. He competes almost entirely in South America, his best results in 2006 came on the clay courts of Bolivia where he made the semis of a 10K.

Match is on Tuesday afternoon.

He should be looking to go deep here, great opportunity to rack up some points but Alan's results on clay have been disappointing in the past, the surface doesn't particularly suit his game so maybe we shouldn't expect too much.

I'll be very surprised if he doesn't make the quarters, Wauters or Mergea are potential banana skins at that stage

Good win for Alan. Got relatives in Angers so going to see if they can head over one day or so.

Bonus point to anyone who knows what classic Northern city Angers is twinned with

Ouanna in R2. The dude who beat Bloomers (might have been Baker) in the last french futures so not as straightforward as it might have been.

Good clinical R1 win!

I thought that might happen after the Bloomfield result.

That was a poor loss from Alan but then again, he always seems to play below his ranking on the clay cry

Ouanna's win over Bloomers was on fast carpet. He's a big server and looking at the stats, it appears that Mackin found it too hot to handle, Ouanna only lost 1 point on his 1st serve in the entire match. Mackin has to get his first serve firing and unfortunately that just didn't happen, only 52% 1st serves and he faced 8 bps in the match, Ouanna took 3.
