After hosting a successful inaugural U14 Pro-5000 tournament in February, in which two British girls won a years worth of tennis funding to further their careers, GB Tennis Girls (GBTG) has launched a text-to-win competition to fundraise for an under 18 event.
By texting the word TENNIS to 88800 players, parents, coaches or fans can contribute to the British game.
Each text costs1.50 and every entrant receives 4.50 worth of mobile phone game content free of chargealong with the chance towin 2007 Wimbledon tickets, iPods and a host of money cant buy tennis prizes, such as autographed rackets by Britains stars and the chance to play on the grass courts of Wimbledon.
GBTG Director Victoria Davies says: Were excited to be able to offer the chance to win great prizes and support British tennis without asking for big donations.
With all profits going directly towards the U18 Pro-5000 event, which we hope to run at the end of the year, a successful SMS campaign could leave the organisation in the position to run a senior event too.
GB Tennis Girls feels the U18 event is key to young women playing tennis in the UK and plans are to make it inclusive with several regional qualifying tournaments.
It is at under 16 and under 18 age groups that girls show the most considerable fall out from the game, comments Jo Ward, Communications Manager. Perhaps giving these girls the opportunity to win enough funding to continue their careers could make an enormous difference to the success of British women.
The text-to-win competition began on 27 March and will run for three months with winners being announced on the 20th of each month.
To support the Pro-5000 fundraising efforttext TENNIS to 88800.

I've texted in and had a go. 1.50 isn't a lot to contribute towards such a worthy cause as this, and you also get the chance to win some great prizes. Let's get everyone having a go if possible and make this tournament happen.
