Tim's Live Ranking Weeks 10 and 11 (Indian Wells

The new table is posted here (On BritishTennis.net)

No- one drops below Tim, so he starts the week where he ended week 9, at 44. Rochus, Becker and Gaudio drop places ahead of him. Benneteau, Monfils, Grosjean and Kohlschreiber drop places behind him.

Tim can overtake everyone up to Hewitt, at 19, ahead. He can be overtaken by everyone down to Noam Okun, at 165, behind.

Yep -just spotted that.   Table updated again.

OK, rankings gurus: how many points does a lucky loser get for making and going out in the first round of a masters series event? Obviously he gets the 3 points for reaching the qualifying round, but is he treated like a Wildcard, and given no points for the first round loss, or treated like a qualifier, and given a further 5 points, making 8 in total?

I've gone for 3.

3 i believe. It's like those with byes don't get any points until they've won a match - i think.

Bad start. First result of the first round, and Mayer overtakes Tim

Also playing tonight are:

Lee (vs Kohlschreiber) who'll overtake if he wins tonight.

Ginepri (vs Kendrick) who'll move out of reach of a Henman R1 win

Benneteau (vs Monfils), Vliegen (vs Gabashvili) and Massu (vs Garcia-Lopez), all of whom can advance to within a win of overtaking

Bethan, what d'you reckon? What- ifs  after R2?

Edit: Benneteau couldn't overtake, Tim can't reach Bjorkman etc in R2.

Yeah, that's the plan. If I try and do them before then it just gets ridiculous. Also, should then know who's playing in challengers next week.

Benneteau wins, and moves to 13 points behind Tim (Edit, and doesn't overtake as I first thought)

Kohlschreiber beat Lee, so just 1 places down for Tim on Friday

Ginepri won and moves out of reach of a Henman R1 win.
Vliegen  and Massu both lost, reducing the threats considerably

Gicquel lost; Bjorkman and Simon advance ahead.

OK, so it's Tim vs Hernych first up on Stadium.

Becker plays Falla in R1, Mayer plays JC Ferreiro. If Tim wins, and they lose he can overtake them and Gaudio.

Behind,  Clement plays his R2 match against Nadal: he needs to win the 4th round to overtake Tim. Volandri plays Horna, Mirnyi plays ToJo.  Both need to win R3 to overtake.

Oops - Mad's pointed out that I'd got ahead of myself, and been allocating R1 winners 35 points rather than 20 points. That's been corrected. It means that Benneteau doesn't overtake after all

With Tim out , the table's been extended downwards to see more of the threats

Becker goes out.

Behind,  Volandri  is knocked out. Clement and Mirnyi play later.

Clement and Mirnyi are both knocked out as well

Big threat Benneteau plays Melzer tonight, and overtakes if he wins. Canas plays the Fed, Kohlschreiber plays Nalby, Mathieu gets Fish and Serra  plays Blake.
