Alex regains the top 150, going up 2 at 149, as Vik and Gil defend points from last year.

Kiefer, Andreev and Luzzi  also drop places.

As he's in qualies for an ATP, Alex could climb all the way into the top 90, should he win the Las Vegas tournament.  He's also more likely to go out early than are his competitors who're playing challengers this week...... much could change.

Alex plays today in Vegas qualies.  So do Delgardo, Fleishman and Moodie, ahead, and Capdeville behind.

In Acapulco qualies, Guzman, Gremelmayr and Granollers play this evening.
In Dubai, Andreev and Schuettler are in the main draw (Schuettler qualified today)
No play in the main draws in the Challengers today.

By qualifying in Vegas, Alex added just enough points to stay ahead of Guzman
In Acapulco qualies, Guzman qualified, and sits just 3 points behind Alex Gremelmayr and Granollers are knocked out

In Dubai, today, #1 target, Andreev plays Gicquel.
In Cherbourg, #2 threat, Vik plays Warburg, Luzzi plays Kubot, Guez plays Soeda.

Tonight, Alex plays Querrey in Vegas. He can advance as high as 143 if he wins and Andreev loses. Capdeville plays Lu.

 "What If" post to follow later: Bethan's got too much on, so any other volunteers?

Andreev beat Gicquel 6-7 6-4 7-5.

He was 5-3 down in final set

Way too good a day for Alex's competitors - not one of them lost

As Johnnylad says,  Andreev beat Gicquel in Dubai, gains 25 points and shoots off the table

In Cherbourg, #2 threat, Vik beat Warburg, Luzzi beat Kubot, Guez beat Soeda. Luzzi and Guez advance

In Vegas, Capdeville beat Lu and advances


Tonight, Alex can now advance to 144 if he beats Querrey.

Capdeville won his Round- Robin match in Vegas and overtakes, knocking Alex down to 151  Montcourt also advances.

Zverev, Karanusic and Zabaleta are knocked out. There's only Guga left in ATP tournaments behind Alex.

In Cherbourg today, Vik  plays Bloomers threat Lacko, and overtakes if he wins threat #2 Gil plays rising Fench hope Roger- Vasselin. In Wolfsburg, #4 Luzzi plays Przysiezny.

In Wolfsburg, threat #3 Haase plays Riester.

Not a bad day in Europe for Boggo: both Gil and Vik were knocked out, and so can't overtake. Haase rises to breath down Alex's neck.

Luzzi won, and advances behind Alex.

Guzman plays Tim threat Gaudio tonight in Acapulco.

Today in Cherbourg, Montcourt plays Mertinak. Guez plays Muller.
Tonight in Vegas, Capdeville plays Melzer.

The remaining threats are:

  • Haase,  who needs to beat Berrer in the QF in Wolfsburg
  • Luzzi, who needs to reach the final in Cherbourg
  • Guez, who needs to win Cherbourg
  • Mertinak, who also needs to win Cherbourg.

Only 3 can actually achieve their goals.  So worst case for Boggo is down another 3 to 154 (down 3 on the week)
