Fraudley - is this the end of the road ?

So Saturday saw Michael Sprott knocking out Fraudley Harrison in the 3rd rounds with a massive uppercut.

Is this the end of Harrison's career ?

Personally, I think the loss to Sprott was inevitable. Harrison had that dire loss against Danny Williams where he basically didn't try to fight and then lost to an unknown American veteran. Then he beats an out of form and unfit Danny Williams and suddenly he's billed as a future world title contender.

The problem for Harrison is that the talent and raw material is there, he just lacks the bottle when it comes to the really tough fights so as soon as he comes up against any really decent opposition he's going to lose.

I just loved his interview. "I thought I was ok, but the ref didn't"

Audley, you were out cold for about 3 minutes!

In all seriousness though, this is not necessarily the end of the road. If Audley still wants it, he can still have it. He is still just a few decent wins away from a world title fight. Obviously, he has to produce those wins first!

Frank Warren knows very well that Audley is still a bigger draw than any other British heavyweight. More casual viewers would tune in to watch him on the TV. But he has to realise he will be fighting on the undercard for the next 3 fights or so. And he will have to pick up impressive wins in them 3 fights.

This does not have to be the end for Audley, if anyone else had been hit by that punch at the weekend, they would have been knocked out too. Sprott was facing the floor when he threw the punch, it was simply a lucky punch which any fighter can fall foul of. However, if Audley were to retire here you certainly couldn't blame him.

Yeah the heavyweight division is so weak that he can still get there. However, he's now more like 5-6 wins away from a world title fight. He's got the talent to do so but I don't think he's got the bottle on the big occasion. Once Sprott started upping his game on Saturday and coming at Audley more, Audley panicked and started trying to find the really big shot which would end the fight quick. As a result, he dropped his gloves when lining up a big one and gave Sprott the chance to throw that thunderbolt.

He's been offered a fight for the British title next, which would be in May against Scott Barrow. This depends on whether Barrow gets past Danny Williams in March which is by no means certain. I think we could be heading for Harrison v Williams (3)  imo, lol.
