Just got off the phone with Jamie

What a result.  6-4, 6-4.  He said he played a very clean match.  Didn't get his serve broken once.  Of course 1 break in each set.  Jamie said Raj tried to come in a lot early, but Baker used his lob very effectively to keep Ram from closing in and it worked very well.  Jamie then said he was to strong off the ground for Rajeev and didn't give Ram a chance to hit his favorite shot, crosscourt forehand.  This puts him in the semis against Russell who he lost to in the finals in Hawaii.  Baker was up 4-1 and a point for 5-1 in the second set in Hawaii, but Russell forced a few errors and closed out the set 7-5.

Jamie said if Ryderstedt wins his singles match(on right now) that they will probably pull out of doubs.  Baker said he doesn't want to be on the court till 10pm at night and then have to turn around and play the #1 seed in singles tomorrow.  He also mentioned that he has a wisdom tooth coming in and wants to get back to the hotel take a few drugs and have to worry about it while playing with MR.

Great job Jamie, and btw, thanks for the nice return on my $$$$.

Great, thanks for the detail Craig. Hope the wisdom tooth isn't too painful, I haven't had mine through yet but am dreading when they do decide to come!

Seems very sensible to pull out of the doubles though a little disappointing. i guess so long as both halves of the team agree it's OK but when a doubles specialist is 'dumped' by a singles guy I do feel very sorry for them!

I will be near a computer tomorrow so when Jamie calls me I'll make sure to post the result and what he had to say on here.

GO BAKER!!!

Great news - thanks for the confirmation. Poor Jamie - I can remember when my wisdom teeth came in. It wasn't fun.

Best of luck for the match against Russell - probably a step too far but fingers crossed anyway.

Yay, well done Jamie

I didn't have very much trouble with my wisdom teeth, he may be lucky.

Thanks, first for confirming the result and the extra detail is great.

It took a bit of time but it looks like Jamie has come to grips with challenger level tennis. Russel will be tough to beat but at least Jamie can enter these tournaments with real confidence from now on.

As promised Jamie and Ryderstedt pulled out of the doubles citing 'tooth pain'.

Interestingly Russell also pulled out of the doubles, his 'injury' was "gastrocnemius strain" with is apparently one of the muscles in your calf.

Good luck to Jamie against Russell. I have faith in you!

Yes, even in-form players have to slip up some time, so go Jamie! Hustle Russel out of the tournament!
