Wow, so four rounds of qualifying plus a round one win needed before any points are gained, almost doesn't seem worth it!
Good luck to them though and hopefully they all learn something whether they qualify or not.

Yeah, it's very gruelling ! However, unlike the mens futures, they will get points for reaching the main draw so it's a little more rewarding.
Unfortunately there's been a load of rain delays over the past few days so it's going to be a real "survival of the fittest" scenario of the next few days.
Best result from the first qualies round was 17 year old Jessica Jackson beating the Brazilian 10th seed (ranked over 800 places higher) 4-6, 7-5, 6-1.
Webley-Smith won 6-3, 6-4 too. She faces a much stiffer test in round 2 against Slovakian 13th seed Martina Babakova. Babakova is ranked 62 places higher at 639, she reached the final qualifying round last week in Vale de Lobo. Anna Fitzpatrick beat her 6-2, 7-5 in Sunderland earlier this year.
Due to rain, Abigail Royston, Holly Richards, Julia Bone, Olivia Scarfi, Deborah Armstrong and Aimee Richards didn't play on Saturday. Scarfi is the 16th seed and should reach the final qualifying round. Bone and Armstrong are both talented teenagers but they'll have to defeat players ranked much higher to make it that far.
...and there's more. Arguably, the win of the first round of qualifying at least as far as the Brits are concerned came for Jessica Jackson who is ranked 1434 in the world. She beat 10th seed Nathalia Rossi, who's ranked 618 in the world 4-6 7-5 6-1. great stuff - a brilliant turnaround.

Others not already mentioned lost
not quite true. anna hawkins also won 6-2 6-1 and webley smith won 6-3 6-2
Hold my hands up over Hawkins but Jackson and Webley-Smith WERE already mentioned earlier in thread by USM.
Yeah, but only in the post immediately above come on no one's going to go that far back to look for results
Who are the opponents next? (and surely these matches must have been played if they have to get through 3 more qualifying rounds before the main draw starts?)

I assumed the rain had stopped for the first round matches to be played and that they would play rd2 immediately after because of the rain probs. I hadn't realised rd1 wasn't finished yet.
It does seem ridiculous to have such a big draw, how does it even happen? do 128 people really turn up wanting to qualify? Seems madness! Oh well, hope the matches are played soon.
