Boggo's Ranking and Competitors Week 6 (5-11 Feb)

the table is posted here (on Britishtennis.net).

Boggo dives to world rank 159 as his Bergamo points from last year drop off his total.

Zib dives down with him, and Faurel  and Labadze also lose places.

If Alex can win the tournament, he'll climb back into the 120s.  If he loses to the number 2 seed, Schuettler,  today, then he's well within Bloomers' reach

No-one can overtake him by winning the first round in Wroclaw, but plenty can by reaching the QFs: Haase and Montcourt in Bergamo, Granollers in Florianopolis, Gremelmayr, Mertinak and Karanusic in Wroclaw.

Montcourt plays Carlsen; Mertinak plays Ouahab; Granollers plays Andujar  today.  could be a very bad week........

although should he lose this lot, he then has untill the 9th of april untill his next lot (3 12's in a row), so in 2 months so if can make some progress on the us hard courts he could see himself heading back up. he just musnt panic in matches about the points.

very true count. I still want him to make up the points this week though

The only real issue with not defending the points all in one go is tournament entries in the coming months, the higher his ranking the better the tournament he can enter/more likely to be seeded in bigger challengers hence more likely to steer clear of the big names until later in the tournament. On the other hand, if Boggo wants to rise further up the rankings (and I'm pretty sure he does ) then he needs to beat those bigger names regardless of when in the tournament he meets them.

The updated table is posted here (on Britishtennis.net).

What a great start to the week, Alex shoots up four places to WR155, overtaking Zib, Wang, Pashanski and Daniel. Both Mertinak and Montcourt won today, as did Zib

Granollers
plays later this evening, as does the newly- overtaken Pashanski,  and Josh's opponent and close target, Fleishman.

No- one playing tomorrow can overtake, but Daniel in Florianopolis can if he reaches the QFs.

"What- if" post to come on Wednesday.

The updated table is posted here (on Britishtennis.net).

Overnight......

Threat #3, Daniel beat target  #1, Guzman, in Florianopolis. Saretta was knocked out in Bergamo.  so looking good if Boggo can win the next couple of matches...

Today
in Wroclaw, Zib plays Kollerer, and overtakes if he wins Mertinak plays Bubka, and will advance to just 2 pts behind if he wins.

After Zib & Mertinak,  Alex plays Klec, and can advance past Fleishman (as well as Gil, Guzman and Pim-Pim, and Zib if he wins) to WR 151.

In Bergamo, Montcourt plays Cipolla, and will overtake if he wins and Alex loses.

The "What- if" Post

If Boggo wins in Wroclaw:
He'll have 358 points and Nathalia's friends throwing themselves at him. He'll definitely overtake 24 players. He could overtake: Mello(if he goes out before the QF of Florianopolis),Gulbis(before QF, Bergamo), Economidis(before QF, Wroclaw), Bolelli(before SF,Ber), Zverev(before SF,Wro), Kubot(before F, Wro),Eschauer(loses in F, Wro). Kubot and Eschauer play each other today, so can't both make it. A max of 6 from this 7 can hold him back.
Best Case:    World number 124 (+16)
Worst Case: World number 130 (+10)

If Boggo loses in the final in Wroclaw:
He'll have 331 points and get to go to Nathalia's party. He'll definitely overtake 14 players. He could overtake:  Zverev(before QF,Wro),Eschauer(before F, Wro), Fraile(before F, Flo), Fleishman(before winning Dallas). He could be overtaken by:Montcourt(if he wins Bergamo), Mertinak and Karanusic(if either win Wroclaw). they can't both win Wroclaw, so a max of 6 from this 7 can hold Boggo back.
Best Case:    World number 137 (+3)
Worst Case: World number 143 (-3)

If Boggo loses in the Semis in Wroclaw:
He'll have 308 points and might get to buy Nathalia a drink. He'll definitely overtake 9 players. He could overtake:  Fraile(before QF, Flo), Fleishman(before F, Dal). He could be overtaken by: Montcourt(if he makes F,Ber),  Mertinak and Karanusic(if either make F, Wro), Pashanski and Daniel (if either win, Flo). M & K would meet in the semis and P & D can't both win Florianopolis, so a max of 5 from this 7 can hold Boggo back.
Best Case:    World number 144 (-4)
Worst Case: World number 149 (-9)

If Boggo loses in the Quarters in Wroclaw:
He'll have 289 points and might Nathalia to acknowledge him. He'll definitely overtake 3 players. He could overtake:  Fleishman(before Q, Dal). He could be overtaken by: Zib (if he makes S, Wro), Montcourt(if he makes S, Ber),  Mertinak and Karanusic(if either make S, Wro), Pashanski and Daniel (if either make F, Flo)P & D can't both make the final in Florianopolis, so a max of 6 from this 7 can hold Boggo back.
Best Case:    World number 151 (-11)
Worst Case: World number 157 (-17)

If Boggo loses today in round 2 in Wroclaw:
He'll have 277 points and will get thwe cold Polish shoulder from Nathalia He won't overtake anyone.
He could be overtaken by: Pashanski and Daniel (if they make Q, Flo), Zib (if he makes Q, Wro), Montcourt(if he makes Q, Ber),  Mertinak and Karanusic(if they make S, Wro), Zabaleta (if he wins Flo) Cipolla (if he wins Ber), Przysiezny(if he wins Wro) Prz & Kara can't both make the semis in Wroclaw and Cip & Mon meet in R2 in Bergamo, so a max of 7 from this 9 can hold Boggo back.
Best Case:    World number 155 (-15)
Worst Case: World number 162 (-22)

...and while I was compiling that, Mertinak went out to Sergei Bubka Jr

(I've also updated the table following publication of the new ATP rankings)

as Count says: Go Boggo Go!

Zib beats Kollerer and overtakes   It's now up to Alex to leapfrog back past him by beating Klec.

Fleishman beats Odesnik in Dallas, so boggo can't overtake him today

Boggo advances back past Zib and the rest to get to WR152

Zabaleta wins in Florianopolis and advances. But Boggo's now beyond his reach.

Montcourt is a set up in Bergamo

So Alex vs Zib tomorrow: the two players defending 60 points play each other.....
