the most exciting part of the week happens before any play begins: Djokovic is defending 75 points from Zagreb last year, and is not playing this year. As a result, he drops behind Andy, and Andy will end the week ranked World number 13 - a new career high

Otherwise, it's a very boring week for Andy ranking watchers:

No- one who can overtake is playing this week. The nearest player behind Andy who's in action is Marcos Baghdatis, who can rise to 17th if he wins in Zagreb.

Looks like Andy has taken a leaf out of Tim's book and used masterful inactivity to gain places!!

Haas plays Lu in his first RR match in Delray Beach today. (Off the table, both Baghdatis & Youzhny won their 1st rounds in Zagreb)

Youzhny beat Gicquel, dammit.  Just as well he is not too close.

It's going to be Baghdatis vs Ljubicic in the final - Ljubi came back from a break down in the final set to beat Youzhny

Andy should be safe at #13 for a couple of weeks, as there are no ATP tournaments next week. However, the week after, - all those points to defend, and all his competitors playing somewhere or other. . .

Defend that title, Andy!

I think that Andy can do well again in San jose....may not win it but expect him to reach the final at least.....so hoping for that or better and hoping Novak hits a form banana skin !

Baghdatis wins Zagreb.  He's now 4 places and 285 points behind Andy: Andy'll have to go out in r1 of San Jose, and have Marcos win a tournament that week for him to threaten.
