That's my general interpretation too.
WTA though do talk about the WTA Calendar year, by which they mean year-end-rankings to year-end-rankings.
That currently falls after Zhuhai Elite tournament, in the first week of November. Decidedly not at the end of the year.

But, here we're talking about ITF events, and I do not know of any such ambiguity with their definitions, so presume the generally accepted definition applies; the one that you provided, and with which I readily concur.

Looks like Jodie, Emily A (SE?), Beth and ??? have got WC or other entries into the MD. Looks like there should be 1 or 2 others as well. Only Maia has direct entry into the MD.

Based on current rankings, both Jodie (458) and Beth (464) are higher ranked than Vlada Ekshibarova (495), the Q1 Seed, so will have made the main draw. Beth has had her 3 MDWC for the year, anyway.

OER shows Beth has only had 1 points scoring MDWC this year - in Manchester? Where do you think she had the other two?

My guess on the 4th WC would be Fran. I can't see who else it could be. .

Just a thought but is it possible Tara might have requested a WC?

Tara's playing for her club in Switzerland in a 2 week interclub tournament which continues this week. Incidentally, in the last two matches she's played doubles with Anna's recent partner Xenia Knoll and won both matches.

Yes, with:

two into the finals of the girls (15k),

one into the boys (25K), plus a semi-finalist,

a winner and two runner-up in the men's doubles final, and

a runner-up in the women's doubles,

we certainly have a lot to be very grateful for to the Irish !

Will be interested to see about the wildcards here. Fran seems a certain prospect, although she did withdraw on the 24th.... Any chance for Ema after her decent performance in Dublin? Or Emma Rad, suddenly out of nowhere?

OK, hands up, shouldn't post in the early hours of the morning after a night out and a long drive home.
I was checking several players WC usage, and got the tabs mixed up. Beth has had 3 WC's but only one was MD.

As for the DA's promoted into the main draw. This is where I was coming from.
Danilina was Q4 on the entry list, behind Ekshibarova who was at Q3
Take the rankings at the Monday before the tournament week (i.e. current official rankings), which are the ones used for seedings.
Firstly, the 16 seeds do match their ranking order - not the same as the order on the entry list. Second - the top five on the list (based on these rankings) are not in qualifying, including Jodie, Beth and Danilina. Add in Emily Appleton and 8 qualifiers to the 18 on the entry list, and you have a full main draw, without Beth and Jodie needing wild cards.
But perhaps there are withdrawals.

Anyway, enough of this, we'll know tomorrow anyway ! Time for me to shut up.

Yes, seedings ( main draw and qualifying ) are based on the previous Monday's rankings.

But as to getting into the main draw at all, or indeed the qualifying draw if much further down, that is certainly based on the entry / acceptance list.

Maia can be the only British direct entrant. Any more we get into the main draw will be WCs or qualifiers.

THe women's QR1 results are in, with no real surprises apart from poor Eden had to retire - hope she's OK.

Yes, big shame for Eden also hope she's OK - judging by that first set score you'd suspect whatever it was, it was troubling her all match. Great opportunity for the younger Pitak or Ella T now though. Sam vs Freya as expected and Lissy and Emily Arb still with a shout.

Shame that Sam has to play Freya but hey...

The French woman who plays Emily Arb can be very inconsistent - Eden Silva beat her 6-3 6-0 in April ! And she hasn't been doing that well recently. (Although she's not top 500 for nothing obviously). She quit tennis altogether for about 3 years and has only quite recently come back (she's 26).

Lissey is way better ranked than Lou Adler, the other French woman involved (about WTA 720 to Lissey's 536). She;s the girl who Tiff beat one week and then lost to the next, a couple of weeks ago. Perfectyl winnable.

10.30am Court 15 - Emily Arb vs Lechemia - 11/10 vs 4/6
10.30am Court 14 - Sam vs Freya - 8/11 vs evens
10.30am Court 13 - A Pitak vs Ella T 6/5 vs 8/13
12ish Court 21 (Follows the match not involving a Brit) - Lissey vs Adler 4/6 vs 11/10

Hoping for wins for the 2 Brits vs non Brits (obviously), plus Freya and I don't really mind in the other all GB tie. Might have said Pitak after an encouraging grass season but that 0 and 1 defeat in the FQR last week would likely mean she was more of a potential walking bye in the main draw.

First Chiswick result is in, Ella beats Ola very comfortably 6-2 6-0.

Emily Arb is doing well... just needs to keep it going a few more games now, is up 6-2 4-1 over the #2 q seed. She really needs some points now, as much of her ranking is based on her results last summer, and at the moment she is steadily leaking points and ranking positions.

Sam and Freya tussling it out, Sam won the first set 6-3, but a break down in the second *0-3

Edit: And all info got in first by Red Squirrel, rather more succinctly wink

Nice win for Emily Arb. Knew she had a very good chance against Lechemia but she certainly did it in style. Maybe getting to the final in the doubles last week has got Emily bouncing around again.
