Del Potro has withdrawn without playing ( rather worryingly due to "Left wrist pain" ).

If he had withdrawn rather earlier Kyle would have been seeded.

Perhaps Del Potro thought it would clear up. I hope that it's not a re-occurrence of his previous injuries, he is one of my favourite players.

That's extremely worrying. If he has serious wrist issues again that's probably his career over. So really hope this is just being very cautious.

Yes really hope for the best, he is clearly a guy that a lot of folk like. Ironically he may well still move to a CH 3 next Monday. He will do so unless Sasha Zverev retains the title this week.

I see that the two 19 yos ( well the Greek for a few days more anyway ), Shapovalov WR 26 and Tsitsipas WR 27 have completed straight set R2 wins over (14) Fognini and (7) Thiem respectively.

Interesting times and very good to see their continued progress.

Pity re Jamie & Bruno but facing a good pair who are #4 in this year's race as against Jamie & Bruno at #7.

I see that Tsitsipas, who turns 20 on Sunday, has beaten Sascha Zverev in the QF in 3 sets ( reversing a straight sets SF defeat from Washington last week ). That will take him into the top 20 in Monday's rankings.

Tsitsipas has now beaten Anderson in the SF and will be ahead of Kyle in Monday's rankings so no new CH 15 for Kyle.

Could Tsitsipas be the first 19 year old since Nadal to win a Masters?
