Great stuff.

Time to step up to 25k's now. Very interested to see Frans progress over the next few years.

It will be interesting to see how quickly Fran adjusts to $25Ks. I remember Amanda Carreras went through a period of winning $10Ks and losing early in $25Ks. She had to flip between the two for a while before she became firmly established at the higher level.

I am quite optimistic that Fran will make some progress, she only lost one set in Finland and beat the 5, 3 and 2 no ranked girls only going to three sets in the final. I have only seen her play a couple of times but she hits the ball hard and consistently. She really needs to test her self against top 500 players hopefully the short term pain of which there will be some won't last too long.

This win (Net +12) is her 16th counter. She still has 3 1 pointers 3 2 pointers and 2 4 pointers.  She has 1 point coming off in August and 11 (7+4) in September and has only 1 win in a 25k MD at Obidos. Her first 12 pointer comes off in November. This weeks win (according to OER) will take her to 464 with 75 points. 25k MD cut-offs are usually 250-400 (Blob did some good Charts on field strengths) and the qualies are often very competitive. The jump to 25ks is very difficult - ideally she would need to be level with Maia as a lot of weeks she will just be getting the 1 point.

As an aside, I looked up the rankings and titles of the unseeded players who got to R2 in the recent Porto 25k which was a weak field (WR/CH 25k-10/15k)

516/263 0+6 457/446 0+3 396/315 0+10  472/423 0+2 508/497 0+0 484/420 0+2 392/137 3+10 349/150 2+8  591/546 0+1 609/398 0+1.

Well done this week and good luck biggrin

Bear in mind that unless she can get 50+ points from 25Ks during the rest of this year her ranking is going to fall significantly under the new system and she will need to rely on her ITF ranking in the early months of next year to get in to 25Ks through the reserved places. It is imperative, therefore, that she replaces the big 15K points dropping off in the coming months with other 15K points to keep her near the top of the ITF rankings until she has enough 25K+ points to get in to 25Ks directly under the new system.
