Any back story as to why Shinikova has fallen more than 200 places in 16 months? Seems to be in pretty decent form albeit in low level events. Had a few British scalps recently, although none of those were on Katie's level.

bad linked injures arm sholder hip and has hardly played free from pain

If she's had that much trouble, I'm surprised she has played so much. 42 doubles and 24 singles this year - should have taken a longer break and got sorted out.

Efficiently done 

More than covering her 5 points due off on 11/06, Katie then has only a further total of 4 points due off by late September. She seems in a good place just now and very much on the up.

Her current WR/CH is 238 by the way, up 50 places last Monday with her recent 25K title points added.

Margarita seems to be making her way back from injury rather effectively. She has just swotted the 2nd seed aside 6-1 6-0. Katie may need to play exceptionally well to have a chance of progressing to the final here.

The poor second seed isn't having much fun in this tournament, having lost to Seone Mendez (according to Red Squirrel above) and now to Gasparyan.

Good to see some consistently good results for Swan, and agree that Gasparyan will be a good test.

Yes, very tough on Scholl #2 losing to Mendez. Of course it was Sanchez #3 that got the bakery
