I was at work so had no choice.

Thinking about it I have seen Jo play twice live (at Wimbledon and Eastbourne) and seen 2 defeats!

I have a sneaking suspicion this is the first time Jo has won consecutive clay court matches in the same tournament since Rome 2016... last year she had a bye in the first round in Rome. I wouldn't be surprised if this is only the second time she has done it (certainly on WTA tour).

It may be hard to credit these days but Jo's first  three tournament wins on the ITF circuit were on clay courts in the years from 2008 to 2010. The  $50K.  win in Raleigh in 2010  included wins over Alexandra Stevenson and Mirjana Lucic. She won 3 matches in qualifying for the 2015 French championships.

I'm glad you dug those out.  I'd recalled she's had a few clay court  ITF titles around the time there was discussion about her becoming  a Brit, and thinking 'yes, we 'ave her' !!

Just seen this on twitter (Stuart Fraser of The Times)

Delay to the start of Konta vs Ostapenko. Konta has called the physio on after breaking a nail...

Now 5-1*
