Week 17 - Nigeria F2 - Abuja ($25,000) (hard)

QR1:  Darryl Hale UNR vs (qWC) Olaniyi Ibiwoye (NGR) UNR

QR1:  Sizya Kivanda UNR (CH = 1880 in October 2015) vs (q15) Sylvester Emmanual (NGR) WR 1950 (CH = 1097 in December 2016)

QR1:  Joe Cooper UNR vs (q9) Ivan Sabanov (CRO) WR 1275 (CH = 907 in August 2014)  bleh

No doubt Joe will be in the doubles.

At last a modicum of success to report for Darryl from deepest, darkest Africa, even if it is agin a qWC:

QR1:  Darryl Hale UNR defeated (qWC) Olaniyi Ibiwoye (NGR) UNR by 6-3 7-6(4)

Just wondering whether that means he qualifies automatically, as he would have played the winner of the match pitting the players in the top two slots in the draw & they're both byes... confuse

I see Matt Seeberger's also in qualifying, so I assume Joe will team up with him.

Draw does look strange ! But Darryl was the last player on the alt list, so maybe there was a LWD from the main draw, and the Q1 seed got promoted, with no alt available to fill the Q slot.

Yes, there must have originally been a Q1 seed in the draw and he has withdrawn / been moved too late to change the draw.

Bit surprised no more Brits were adventurous enough to come here for 3 relatively weak hard court 25Ks.

There are only seven FQR matches listed in today's order of play, so I assume Darryl's into the main draw.

Finn Bass, Alexis Canter, Evan Hoyt, Jonathan Binding, Elliott Farmer, Sean Hodkin, Isaac Stoute, Thomas Hulme, Luke Johnson, Luke Stevenson, George Loffhagen, Patrick Ogier, Samule Pointon, Tiran Sanghera & Luke Stocker must all have entered at some stage, as they're shown as withdrawals earlier this month or at the end of last, & most have now popped up elsewhere.
