L32:  Evan Hoyt WR 954 defeated (7) Christian Hirschmüller (GER) WR 748 by 4-6 6-4 6-1

Is that a sign that Evan is returning to something like his best?

Evan has been beating higher ranked players repeatedly this season. Just needs to stay fit and his ranking will jump significantly. Potentially top 500 by end of the season.

Wouldn't even try to guess at a future ranking - but it is a splendid result smile

Evan does have a CH 542 from 2016 essentially built on about 6 months of results in late 2015 ( during which he won 2 Tunisia futures titles and reached the final of another ) and early 2016 and then didn't play ITF at all for 16 months from May 2016 to September 2017.

So still just 23, if fit and well, he would seem eminently capable of such results and more and top 500 if he can just get back to that level. How much more there might potentially be who knows. But when things started going well in 2015 he got on a fair roll and one imagined with more to come.

I hope that he now does get an extended period to explore that potential.

Evan took the first set with no problem against the 2nd seed.

On serve in the second

Evan's serve is unreal. 17 aces today in just 9 service games!
