James won a tight second set TB to take it into that decider. Now, in spite of serving his aces #14 and #15 of the match, James has been broken early.

4-6 7-6(8) 0-2*

He hasn't broken serve in the whole match, he's going to struggle to win, now he's behind in the final set.

Saves a couple of MPs.

3-5*

Needs that break now. Getting smashed a bit in most of the match stats but one break now and he's right in it.

You should have read the full thread before asking a question like that - posted by BiS on the first page:

The mystery of Marcus is solved. He tweeted:

Unfortunately just missed the cut here in Mexico so It looks like a practice week for me! #teamcurlers

Yes, Marcus undoubtably wanted to play singles but, especially after missing out on the qualifying cut, I did think he would try and get into the doubles draw. The last direct doubles acceptance CR is shown as 421 so looks as if a partner of at least Marcus's own ranking ( currently 209 ) would have got him in.

So whether he couldn't find that partner or did prefer purely to practise ...

Surely Marcus is playing as a hobby now? Travelling to Mexico on a whim having not played competitively for many months on the circuit? I can't see why he would spend his Wimbledon money to travel to Mexico to practice? I think his singles career is over. Sorry to be a Debbie downer. He can certainly still make a few bucks on the doubles circuit but hasn't entered any thing for a long time either. Very perplexing and a bit disappointing in terms of his potential. I know there were issues with Injury /fitness/commitment/attitude

Some would argue that he has been doing that for the last 5 years wink

We will see Marcus playing hit and giggle events with Henri leconte and mansoor bahrami and the like before too long. Waste of whatever talent he had
