Lumsden and Burrage are in the same section, so at least one of those won't qualify, the rest won't clash.

Bit of a weird set up this draw. The 2 seeds in each section get a bye, but then so does 1 unseeded player, so there's 5 people in each section.

(1/wc)Nuria Parrizas-Diaz (ESP) v BYE
Irina Cantos Siemers (GER) v Zuzana Zlochova (SVK)
(wc)Carolina Caetano Reis (POR) v BYE
(14)Victoria Muntean (FRA) v BYE

(2)Pei-Chi Lee (TPE) v BYE
Katerina Filip (SWE) v Claudia Gaspar (POR)
Maria Joao Koehler (POR) v BYE
(12)Yuliya Hatouka (BLR) v BYE

(3)Maia Lumsden (GBR) v BYE
Maria Gutierrez Carrasco (ESP) v Mariagiovanna Nanti (ITA)
Ioana Loredana Rosca (ROU) v BYE
(9)Jodie Anna Burrage (GBR) v BYE

(4)Eden Silva (GBR) v BYE
Sonya Latycheva (CAN) v BYE
Anette Munozova (SWE) v Anastasia Kulikova (RUS)
(15)Arlinda Rush1ti (SUI) v BYE

(5)Marina Bassols Ribera (ESP) v BYE
Catarina Castro Cerqueira (POR) v Ines Benito (ESP)
Linnea Malmqvist (SWE) v Warona Mdlulwa (RSA)
(10)Sarah Beth Grey (GBR) v BYE

(6)Cristina Bucsa (ESP) v BYE
Beatriz Neves (POR) v BYE
Francisca Jorge (POR) v Claudia Cianci (POR)
(13)Lisa Ponomar (GER) v BYE

(7)Romy Koelzer (GER) v BYE
Karola Patricia Bejenaru (ROU) v Madalena Andrade (POR)
Rebeca C Silva (POR) v Lucia Cortez Llorca (ESP)
(11)Emily Appleton (GBR) v BYE

(8)Freya Christie (GBR) v BYE
Dagmar Dudlakova (CZE) v Olga Parres Azcoitia (ESP)
Camila Garcia (POR) v BYE
(16)Ainhoa Atucha Gomez (ESP) v BYE

Hopefully, at least 4 of those can make the main draw and join the other Brits already through.

I'd assume that the draw is just undersubscribed hence random non seeds getting byes and these byes have just coincidentally spread through the draw as they have.

Yeah, looks like it and actually, some sections have 6 players, so just the seeds getting byes, whereas others have 5, so the 2 seeds and one other.

Bit unusual that draw. Supposed to be 48 in qualifying, not 40. And there were 42 on the last Q list plus more than 20 on the alt list, so quite a few didn't bother.

3 $25K and a $60K in and around the Mediterranean to chose from this week, fields are going to be spread pretty thin.

There was a list of 26 Alts including 3 more players from the UK so it shouldn't have been undersubscribed.

Those 3 British alts have been entering a lot of tournaments without ever getting in. Looks like they missed their chance this week.

Pity but understandable with the 3 of them being so far down the alts list. The few on the alts list that are in the qualifying draw are largely Portuguese from quite high up the list though the #25 Nanti (ITA) ( lower than the 3 Brits ) clearly hung out for it. In general though, unless around there for some reason, it is understandable for foreign players on the latest alts list ( and particularly well down it ) not to take a gamble on coming and not getting in.

Yes, it is understandable. However, Emilie L-G entered at least 5 tournaments for week 16, and is now left at A56 for Obidos after around 250 withdrawals. Maybe she will get in next week.

Jodie playing Rosca: former JWR12 and Junior French doubles champ
On clay, this might be a really bad draw, but on Carpet should be OK. Rosca also seems bang out of form.

Has Beth changed base from Halton to Loughborough?

I suspect that Beth might have just gone to Loughborough for doubles practice with Olivia and a couple of others.

Yes I'm pretty sure that is correct.
