Em served for the match but can't close against her roommate, into a third. Was two point away at *5-4 30-15

6-3 6-7(4) *0-0

I'm actually surprised how close this has been. Keeping up her slightly better singles form, but this is a week where a doubles win would really come in handy.

Been a sterling comeback here from Emily, down 1-5 in the deciding set.
Back to 4-5*
Can she keep the Lazarus act on track?

Sadly the third set got away very quickly, and despite a fightback at the death, Andrei closed out at the second attempt.

Em loses 3-6 7-6(4) 6-4

Frustrating not to close it out, but I really hadn't anticipated this one being tight.

Think she might be playing doubles with Andrei actually.

In the doubles, both EWS and Harriet are playing. EWS and her room mate have the tougher first up match.

Great to see Harriet crossing this line relatively easily to gain the first 8 points. Whilst she is currently at a CH, in May Harriet has 36 points coming off in total from 4 different tournaments played last year, so all points gained now will help her maintained her extremely pleasing upward momentum so far this year.

R32: Harriet DART (GBR) 230 =CH beat Anastasia GASANOVA (RUS) [Q] 442 (CH:359 July 16) 18 yrs (JCH:42 Jan 16) 6-1 6-3

Harriet's next opponent has just taken out the #3 seed. Like Harriet she is also at a CH, and finished last year at JWR:3

R16: Harriet DART (GBR) 230 =CH vs Elena RYBAKINA (RUS) 255=CH 18yrs (JCH:3 Dec 17)

Good stuff. And for now, with these 8 points Harriet should push that CH up a few more notches and she will go back ahead of Katy D to GB #7 in running, both up into the 220s. Another win and she'll also move ahead of Robbo, but that certainly doesn't look like it will come easily.

As said, Rybakina beat the #3 seed Tomova WR 130 6-4 6-3. But then apart from winning her first senior singles title, a 15K in Kazan last month, already this year she has beaten both Bacsinszky and Garcia to reach the St Petersburg WTA Premier QF.
