Nice to see returns to the circuit for Alex Ward, Richard Gabb and Fran Jones

And it's the start of the grass court season!!

Almost! Australia F1 the previous week is also on grass, so it all kicks off (for two weeks at least!) over this coming weekend!

It seems that the 25k grass tournament in Australia is much weaker than the previous tournaments.
There could be a possibility of Gabi and Katy being the top 2 seeds

WeaK 25K fields may not be great monetarily in themselves but do offer relatively lovely jubbly ranking points, especially to in-form players comfortable on grass.

What ranking date is applicable for seedings here ? I don't think Gabi and Katy's points will have gone through in time to lift them above Reix.

Entry list rankings Reix 257, Gabi 277, Katy 280

This week's rankings Reix 252, Gabi 231, Katy 256

Still, an excellent chance for both of them

The current 26/02 rankings will apply for Week 10 tournament seedings, so Gabi 231 and Katy 256.

- except probably for Indian Wells. Exceptionally with their starts late in the week, Indian Wells and Miami use the rankings from the week of the tournaments. But anyway 26/02 for Mildura.

Thanks - I thought it might have been one week earlier - but of course there is another week before the start

Hopefully Reix doesn't turn up and that will solve the problem

A couple of ringers who wont be seeded for example in Bains and Bai who both love the grass. Potential for Katy and Gaby to come up against them. Gaby has a good grass court game as we know but if Katy came up against either of the Aussie girls, despite the big rankings gap they wouldn be favourite perhaps.

So Kyle goes into Indian Wells as British number one next week. And rafa has withdrawn. As has Stan.

Be interesting to see who ends up playing?!

Storrie into MD direct (unless he's pulled out). Top qualifying seed is below him in and he appears to be the last MD acceptance.

With Nadal and Wawrinka having withdrawn, they are also out of doubles (Nadal and PCB, Stan and Skugor) as well, meaning that Kyle and Neal move up from 5th alternatives to 3rd alternatives. Not sure when the draw is due to be made and if there is any chance they could move up and get in to the draw? Looks like it will be a 24 draw field with 22 direct entries and presumably 2 WC's (guess they dont do qualies in Masters doubles events?).
